Orange is situated within the
Central West Region of New South Wales.
Orange is at
the heart of one of the most beautiful and productive areas in the State. Named
after Prince William of Orange
(who later became the King of Holland), the town and its surrounding area are
enjoying a growing reputation for rare and exotic produce thanks to its cool
climate and rich volcanic soils. The produce ranges from stone fruits and
sheep’s cheeses to fungi and grapes.
A visit to local cafés, award-winning restaurants and farmers markets in Orange and Cabonne will
quickly establish the area's food credentials. About 40 cool-climate wineries
also operate in the area.
Mt Canobolas, the highest peak between the Blue Mountains and Perth in Western
Australia, offers panoramic views, seven walking
tracks, and fishing and canoeing at Lake Canobolas Reserve.
